Department of Energy - DOE

The Department of Energy has received an additional $439 billion for improving infrastructure, supporting loans to states and businesses and some research and development. Their intent is to distribute 70% of these funds through next year. U.S. Department of Energy article

       Recovery Act (ARRA): Development of Algal/Advanced Biofuels Consortia


Department of Energy Recovery Summary

DOE has received a total of $40 billion under ARRA, including $2.5 billion for energy efficiency and renewable research, development, demonstration, and deployment programs. Clean fossil energy technology will receive $3.4 billion dollars and $800 million will be spent on biofuels research. Additionally, The Office of Science will receive $1.6 billion dollars for facilities renovation, basic research, and advanced scientific computing.

ARRA also makes supplemental appropriations for the Energy Policy Act (EPACT) of 2005 Section 721, which authorizes the establishment of a competitive grant pilot program to be administered through the Clean Cities Program, to provide up to 30 geographically dispersed project grants to state governments, local governments, and/or metropolitan transportation authorities in partnership with an active designated Clean Cities Coalition.


APPLICATIONS OF NUCLEAR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The Office of Nuclear Physics (NP), Office of Science (SC), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), hereby announces its interest in receiving proposals for initiatives in Applications of Nuclear Science and Technology, aimed at research and development activities in nuclear science that are relevant to applications important to the Nation. The knowledge, data, techniques, and methods of nuclear science are utilized in a broad portfolio of applications, including energy, nuclear medicine, commerce, medical physics, space exploration, finance, geology, environmental sciences and national security. R&D ON ALTERNATIVE ISOTOPE PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES

The Office of Nuclear Physics (NP), Office of Science (SC), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), hereby announces its interest in receiving proposals for the research and development on alternative methods to produce and separate stable and radioactive isotopes needed for a wide variety of research and applications. The proposed research and development should provide new and innovative technologies, or improvements to existing technologies, to foster the enhanced production of isotopes that will benefit research, and ultimately applications in medicine, homeland security, and industry.
